Our BYU trip-the GOOD, the bad, and the UGLY. (PS This is very long!)

Where to start? The good, the bad, or the ugly? This time at least the ugly wasn't the football game! After three years of making excursions to Oklahoma and Texas, only to see BYU lose, we were there when they won a big one! We were afraid that we were jinxing them or something, cuz every game we go too, they lose. Well, the jinx must be over! Except now it could just be our kids that are the jinx, since they didn't go the the game, they went with Aunt Emily back to the hotel and swam. More fun for all of us! (Thanks Emily for watching them!) When we were planning to go to this game, we were not expecting BYU to win...at all. But we figured, since we weren't expecting them to win, it would be better than the previous years when we were. We just wanted a "respectable" loss. We would have been happy with losing by less than 2 touchdowns. So, at the end of the half, when we were only down by 3, we were feeling pretty good! It was also great to see the OU fans, who were pretty confident, get silenced as their team struggled. Tyler made "friends" with the OU fans behind us. One of them was pretty cool, but the other kept making excuses for every big play BYU made, saying it was because the ref's missed a penalty or because Bradford was hurt. But, first of all, no doubt the game would have been different if he didn't get hurt, but even with him in for the whole first half, they only scored 10 points, where last year they scored an average of thirty in the first half. AND BYU made more mistakes (IE more turnovers) and still won. AND OU had like 6 chances to punch the ball in to the end zone from inside the five, and even if your QB is hurt, they had two running backs that should have been able to do it. So, all in all, I think it was a legit win and that the defense especially played great. But, I also am not an unbiased spectator! But we did have a great time, cheered like crazy, and spent the next day with scratchy voices. Here are some highlights of the GOOD!

They didn't have a pregame tailgate this year with Cosmo, so we didn't get our traditional picture. This is as close to Cosmo as we got.

Rise and Shout the Cougars are out!

Waiting to meet the Sooners.

The coin toss. BYU won that too.

The HUGE jumbo-tron. The picture doesn't do it justice. It is ENORMOUS!

At the start of the game...when we where still relatively calm.

Whitney, Dad, and Tyler enjoying an excellent BYU game!

The winning touchdown...so blurry because I was jumping up and down!

Tyler is CRAZY...but then so was I.

Cheering the Cougars on! We screamed ourselves horse.

Celebrating with Whitney.

The Cougars victory dance!

Here's the proof!

Relishing the victory! We stayed for quite awhile in the stadium. We figured it was better there than sitting in traffic.

So, here is the rest of our trip. There were other good parts; the botanical gardens, the rodeo, and Six Flags. But there was some bad and UgLy too.

So, here is the bad: It was so freaking hot! Friday wasn't bad, but Saturday was awful! We were at Six Flags that day, and I have never been so hot. We also had to walk FOREVER to get to the stadium from where we parked. Isaac had fallen asleep on our way there and then suddenly did a nose dive out of the stroller right into a mud puddle, scraping his upper lip, poor boy! Also, our kids were really tired and not themselves-very emotional and more prone to tantrums etc.

Which leads to THE UGLY: On our third ride at Six Flags, they were riding the kiddie train. We weren't on with them, and they were sitting in the front car with the bell. They started fighting over who got to ring the bell and got so bad that the girl had to STOP THE WHOLE RIDE! Because of our kids. I have never been so embarrassed! We made them sit on a bench for about 15 minutes until they had cooled down, and until Mom and Dad had too. They got the biggest lecture they have ever gotten! And since we held it over their heads the whole rest of the trip (If you whine and fight like that again, we will leave!) they were pretty good the rest of the time.

Our cute family at the botanical gardens.

They really liked the water plants.

This place was so beautiful!

At the Botanical Gardens.

The Cougars take over Texas!

Luke was sick of picture taking by this point as well as VERY tired! He fell asleep in the car on the way to dinner, and he rarely does that!

This was probably their favorite thing we did that day. I wanted to do it to, but didn't want to spend the 5 bucks to do it. I'd do it for the kids, but not for me!

Ride 'em cowboy!

Waiting for the rodeo to start with Aunt Whitney and Aunt Emily.

Tyler wearing Luke's cowboy hat.

Me and my cute Isaac.

My cute sister-in-law Emily getting ready to dance for us. And no, she isn't the one in the BYU shirt. There were a few BYU fans there.

You know you're in Texas when...

The bumper cars at Six Flags...right before the UGLY!

The Batmobile!

Isaac being a shark at the pool...by far their favorite part of the trip!

They said they were "galloping like sharks" here. Sounds fun!

I love taking close ups of them!

Isaac and his poor hurt lip!

So, we had a great time, capped off by an awesome football game! I think we have proved that we are DIE HARD BYU FOOTBALL FANS! GO COUGARS!
